There is no problem using live rock in your sump as long as it is able to flow properly. I keep a few small pieces in mine and have found that the small fan worms reproduce constantly.
I have been running 3 250w metal halides on my 135 for two years now over sps ,lps and leathers with good results. The bulbs were 12k but recently switched to 10k ventures which look like a lot better bulb.
Picked up the three 250w 10k venture bulbs this weekend at Aquatic Designs in Houston. The light is white with just a slight blue ,so far impressed with the output. These bulbs are packaged in a venture box and stamped by venture. The construction is better than the sunbursts.
At the local fish store to look at different bulbs and saw a tank setup with a venture 400w 10k bulb which had slight slight blue to it? Does anybody know of a venture 20w 10k availible? I hav'nt been able to find anybody advertising them.

I have been running three 250watt 12k's for a little over year now with good results, but I can tell they loosing there intensity. After finally seeing some test results I like to try a bulb with a higher par rating. Would one of the 10k bulbs still work without actinic lighting for my stonies?
