    If you are not going to put the reactor in a dump then I would avoid the two little fishes reactor. Too prone to leaking imo. I have the BRS one as well and you can put it anywhere. Doesn't need to be screwed in. If it's too bulky maybe check out the GEO or vertex reactors. They looked like...

    I usually use ATI bulbs, but have also used Geisemann and KZ bulbs. They work fine as well. Just bought 4 blue plus, a Coral Plus, and a Purple Plus for my 6 bulb T-5 fixture.

    I get the gist of what you are doing with the acrylic covers. You could also use heavy duty Velcro to attach them to the screen top. That way they can be easily removed for cleaning.
