damsels dying
Look there is something else killing the damsels instead of cycling. In the early days of reef tanks I always used damsels to cycle tanks & not one ever died. I put the damsels in as soon as the water temp reached 78. As he stated he has about 280 gals of water. I would start with...
acrylic tank
Hi! I am in the process of setting up my 30X24X24 acrylic tank from Paul at museum acrylics. Well made tank with rear overflow. If you want acrylic I would call Paul.
advice
+1
I agree get a sump & probably less maintenance because for your tank to be up for 3 yrs. with a fluval filter you must be cleaning the filter once or twice every week?
45 cube
real nice, I love the monti caps.
I will be setting up my 80 cube in 2 weeks, now I will add a blue hippo.
originally thought a cube would be tight for tangs.
leak in corner
For future reference, I had the same thing happen on my 55 gal. I put duct tape as a last resort it totally stopped the leak. had the tank going for another 3 weeks until my 120 came into the LFS. That stuff works wonders.
colder temps
My dentist keeps his water temp at 68 degrees & his lps & leathers are huge & has a squamosa clam for over 10 years. So if you acclimate correctly I see no problem since he has done the opposite in keeping fish & corals which should be in temps arounds 78 at 68 degrees.
