2. Bristle Worm Picture??

Green Mariner, Thanks, this is GREAT! I am still working on the layout for the page, but I might use this one. I plan on having the page live by the first of next month. I will shoot you an e-mail if I am going to use it so I can get your photo credit info. If you get any more please post...
3. Bristle Worm Picture??

Hi! Just wondering if anybody had a good picture of a bristle worm, that I could use? I am working on a web page and need a good general picture for a segment on class polychaeta. Anyway I need a pic and permission to use it if anyone has one (of course appropriate credit will be given). Thanks!
4. GFCI help please

I had the same problem with the portable GFI from Home Depot. They worked fine on everything, but the lights (175 watt MH). I ended up installing a GFI for one tank, and use the portable units on a smaller tank. One other word of warning, if the power goes off these portable units seem to...
5. Potassium permanganate solution?

I don't have an anwser for you, but as I recall Potassium permanganate lowers pH. I could be wrong...just rings a bell. If it is what I am thinking it probably wouldn't be appropriate for reefs. HTH
6. Skimmerless..............WOW!

Funny, I was thinking about starting a similar thread. About two weeks ago I pulled the plug on my skimmer. This was on a small lightly stocked reef (30 gallons). The tank has a DSB and a custom HOB refugium. I originally turned off the skimmer because I was tired of seeing the little...
7. Precision Marine HOT Skimmer

I need a new hang-on skimmer and am considering several models. Was curious what people's opinions are on the following: Precision Marine HOT Red Sea Berlin HOT Turbo Flotor 1.0 HOT I am leaning towards the PM HOT right now. One of my BIGGEST concerns is bubble in the tank. Right now I have...
8. on a lighter note, here are some pics!

A shot of the shell on the clam would be helpful to ID it. Most likely Tridacna maxima or T. crocea. Coloration reminds me of a lot of croceas I've seen, that would be my gut reaction.
9. suddenly caulerpa in refugium turned white ????

This could indicate that your caulerpa is going into a sexual reproduction mode. This can happen, especially when the density of caulerpa become thicker. Do you export (harvest) caulerpa regular basis? Keep in mind if the caulerpa does go sexual it will lead to a nutrient bloom. HTH

13. Read it and weep......

Hi Dan, You quoted me :
quote:
I said: Again where is the science?? You need to know which species bleach under exactly what conditions, before you can make generalization like Mr. Ormond has done.

I...
14. Any success with blue starfish

Schroom, Rob Toonen had a great post a while back on another site (see:Blue Linkia) It is very important that they are acclimated properly. Not only by you but every step of the way (collector, wholesaler, retailer). HTH
15. Read it and weep......

The media and science don't mix well. It really bothers me when some "scientist" make statement such as Rupert Ormonds does in this article. The kind of language he uses is not scientifically sound. He pronounces "The Sky is Falling", but the article provides no empirical data. Of course not...
