Can't speak about the BRS 1.1 Doser, but i can recommend their Dosing pump (50 ml per minute).
It is $10 bucks more than the 1.1, but I have dosed Kalk on my 38 gallon for going on 6 yeardused in conjunction with my old Reefkeeper controller.
Had similar experience of Hanna Alkalinity getting higher and higher. Returned it to BRS.
As far as Salifert....
I had 3 kits for Alkalinity; Salifert, Red Sea and Lamotte. Red Sea and Lamotte results would be virtually identical and Salifert was consistently 1.0 DKH higher.

For anyone that may be interested:
Began treatment at 10:30 AM, yesterday. Within seconds the visible flatworms were on the move. Withing minutes they were dying off. Netted some and began water change.

So in a few weeks we can compare results.
As far as any rubber tubing or hoses. I do have 90 degree elbow fasteners that attach to my Phosban Reactor. They may be made of rubber, but I doubt that would cause such a spike in Silicon.
I also use an Aqualifter to dose kalk during the...
No, I am not using any rubber hoses.
