  1. whos a lurker in here? ;)

I've been a member for what seems like ages. I have had a tank in the past but decided to take it down and wait until I can redo the tank bigger and better. Overall I just like reading about peoples oops and wow's. And every now and then I do speek up...but usually leave it to the more...
  2. Construction Finally Completed! (Fixed Now!)

Can't get it here either....cable also.
  3. Feeding question

I would go with what seamaiden said about the romaine lettuce. My tangs went crazy over it.
  4. Looking for fish ideas for my tank.

How about an Oriole Angel? Saltwaterfish.com lists it as a 50 gal or larger fish. It's got a lot of color.
  5. New pic of my Goby (yasha goby)

Really nice goby...and a great pic also.
  6. Leaky Aquariums?

I have worked in the pet business off and on for over 10 years and I have never heard of this. Obviously don't go out and buy a used tank with the silicone pealing off of every edge. But as far as the new ones go it's news to me. D
  7. How many of us dive?

I have snorkled a little. However we are going to be spending a week in Key West in April of 2002. Anyone have any suggestions for the area? I don't know how much time we will have but I know we want to go do at least some more snorkeling...what little time we will have we don't want to...
  8. Moray in Reef tanks

We had a nickname for our blue ribbon...evil kenievel (sp?). This eel loved to find it's way into everything it didn't belong in!!! If you have any opening on your tank especially at the top you better find a way to cover or seal it up. This species loves to explore...and did I mention dig...
  9. Moray in Reef tanks

The two species of eels that I have kept are the blue ribbon and a ghost eel. I have had things from a Mandarin, wrasses, cinnamon clown, puffer and tangs...the only fish they even picked on was the wrasses. They have never messed with the starfish...however watch out a snail could wind up...
  10. Who's got the best personality?

Just my personal thing about the Hippo Tang. If I were to start over again I would probably pass on the Hippo...aka ick magnet. I would go for a cool Naso Tang first. Diane
  11. How important is it to have a skimmer in a new tank

I had the levels tested yesterday and the nitrate reading was 0.6. Either way the levels have never been enough to cause any type of algae bloom. I know that there are a lot of people who are pro-skimmer in this forum. However all that matters is that whatever way you decide to go you are...
  12. idiot landlord induced power outage!

I have a pair of naso tangs, mandarin, cinnamon clown, ghost eel, 2 clearner wrasses and 2 small starfish. Along with cleaner snails. Diane
  13. Good way to catch a wolf eel...

First off...carefully. I have had to catch my blue ribbon and ghost eels before and I had to have my hubby lure them out of their caves with food and gently with one had removed the other half of their bodies from their cave and then scooped them up with the net using my other hand. I also put...
  14. How important is it to have a skimmer in a new tank

Thanks for the question Ernie. I have had my tank set-up for almost a year. Currently the only losses that I have had in my tank were due to a hungry eel and I had 1 eel get stuck in a piece of live rock. I even survived a power outage that lasted almost 72 hrs with not a single loss. My...
  15. idiot landlord induced power outage!

This last spring we had a very bad storm roll through our town...100+ winds. In the end the local goverment declaired our town in a state of emergency and all of the town was without power. Well to make a long story short we were without power for almost 72 hrs. I have a 55g tank and I do...
