  1. My nano

Thanks for the comments everyone. The shot included here is from 12-12-03 and is of the tank itself. I designed the system to be low maintenance as well as comfortable for all of our inhabitants. This is the most recent tank that I have setup in a string of tanks ranging from 6g all the way...
  2. Raising Halides Above Canopy?

IMO cutting the canopy and raising the pendants is your best option given the circumstances. I have seen several hoods with elevated halide structures and they really don't look bad at all.
  3. My nano

I still have 1 ph in the tank, but it is fairly well burried. The temp is air inside of the stand. That LG pump is fan cooled and really puts off some heat. I have since installed a fan in the stand to drop air temp in there to about 70. BTW, Iceprobe coolers don't work well if air temp is high.
  4. My nano

Well, mentioned to Andy at myreefcreations.com that I had several inquiries on the cube nano. He is interested in making more of these and has added a page to his ever expanding list of items. Looks like full details won't be worked out until January as far as options and pricing though. Here...
  5. FILTER/SKIMMER HELP

I am a big fan of the Hagen Aquaclear hang on filters. A model 300 or 500 would work well for that size tank. This will take care of mechanical filtration, carbon filtration, and also add some good flow/surface agitation. I would supplement with a skimmer to remove dissolved organic and gunk...
  6. Harlaquin Tusk in my Tank, help Me Sharky

I kept a tusk in a FO system for several months and ended up moving it into my reef for a short time thereafter. No shrimp or crabs, so I can't answer that one. It did however chase my clown goby into the overflow on the 180g several times. Curious or not, that goby feared for his life. The...
  7. My nano

U-turn is strictly to save space. I wanted to leave the other side of the stand open for storage etc. It however makes priming and restart very hard on the pump. I still need to place a wye valve above the gate valve so that the return pipe doesn't flood the pump with bubbles when the main...
  8. My nano

Been setup since September. Livestock and most of the live rock from my 4 year old reef that I sold in August. Tank: 16g acrylic cube, 16" on a side Sump: 10g glass Temperature: Dual 50w ebo heaters on Ranco controller, Iceprobe cooling unit on proportional controller Lighiting: currently...
  9. photos of 125 stand

    Nice work.
  10. Adding Int. Overflows to Acrylic Tank

Yeah, you really need to be able to access the plumbing. I don't have full access, but enough to get the plumbing in and out. That is really it. Eventually a fish my get into the overflow as well. It is really a pain if you don't have full access and the overflow is deep as well. Here is a...
  11. HOW LONG TO DRY?

It really varies brand to brand. I have used varnish/stain combos that take over 2 days to cure. Most varnishes will only take about 6 hours to dry fully. However they may emit odor for another couple days. ttt...
  12. Rubbermaid sump and acrylic

Best thing to install partitions in a rubbermaid is by using smaller containers. As reefland indicated the rubbermaid will flex too much for anything to bond to. I used a 5g bucket to hold my media inside a 30g rubbermaid sump. Just drilled some holes at teh bottom. It worked great.
  13. Concrete to raise pH??

The problem with this is the side products. The curing cement leaches ammonia for starters. Unless you have a very strong tank I doubt that you can add enough cement to buffer without nuking your tank. pickling lime would do better
  14. Question regarding epoxy

I am gonna have to dissagree here. It will hold the dividers in place if used correctly. Richard is correct in stating the nature of the 2-part epoxy. However it does bond well to most surfaces. If you used it to construct a channel and then slide the acrylic dividers into the channel it...
