Laurie, what I meant by scraping the bulb is that algae will build up on your bulb inside the UV tube. There should be a scraper attached to your UV unit to scrape off the algae without taking apart the unit. You want to make sure to scrape that every couple of days for maximum effectiveness...

I'm personally not a fan of HDR images. I think they tend to look fake, especially when more than 3 exposures are blended together. "Pseudo HDR" images tend to look more real, IMO.

Actually, you're all wrong. :) It's just bokeh - an artifact of using such a shallow DOF. Here's another photo I took that has obvious bokeh: Randy, I have a ton more photos! But they have to wait until I have some extra time. :) Hopefully I'll get a chance to look at a few more tonight.
