  1. Thinking about LED

Hey dawg, I'm useless when it comes to specs for lights (still being epically noob), but I can tell you, I would expect you could probably make a pretty thin hood, and suspend it from the ceiling via air-craft cables, so that it was hanging a few inches off the top of the tank. It would still...
  2. Clams?

Thanks Lawdawg. I noticed on the dead coral one of them is on, there is evidence of other clams having been there, and none of the remnants look much bigger then these ones are. Still, cool little guys.
  3. Hermit crabs

Yeah, the 60 pounds of cured were out of an existing reef tank, that was being dismantled. Though the owner says he had forgotten he had hermits. Said he hadn't seen them in over a year.
  4. Hermit crabs

Here's a better picture of Seek, who came out to pose. Got some great snaps, but I liked this one, because his eyes, 4 legs, and claws are all (mostly) visible.
  5. Clams?

I recently just started my 65g aquarium, and in setting it up, bought 70lbs of cured live rock (also 40lbs of uncured), as well as a big old bucket of gravel and crushed coral and also 60lbs of live sand. These guys (as well as the hermit crabs and dusters in my other posts) all arrived on the...
  6. Hermit crabs

Are these just Blue Legs? We call them Hide and Seek, because our two year old was annoyed that he couldn't always find them. Hide barely ever turns up. Seek traded up to a much bigger shell about an hour after I chucked some in the tank. He's a show-off (or she?). Sorry, the picture of...
  7. Dusters

Pretty common, I know, but I'm still thrilled
  8. Noob question(s)

Andy, Thanks for weighing-in. - Canister filter: I had been recommended by two different people locally to utilize one, using mainly live rock crumbles with a floss pad on the intake side. I've also heard people mention activated carbon. I have it currently set up with about half live rock...
  9. Thoughts on buying frags through Yahoo Auctions?

While I'm a total noob in the hobby, I'm a regular user of photoshop, both for my work (as a web developer) and as a hobbiest photographer. So with that in mind, ask yourself: Where are the whites? There is no white those pics. The lightest you get is light blue. Thus, they were either...
  10. Noob question(s)

Hello, Super glad I found this site. I'm sure I'll be asking all sorts of things in the coming months. So, the 411: I've spent the last year or so reading books from the library and stuff online, learning and planning and replanning my aqaurium. For my 30th this October, my wife's present was...
