Despite even the best husbandry, sometimes fish just die. I guess 8 fish in 3 years isn't terrible without a lot of the methods we would preach (qt, carbon reactor, ato, researching stock lists). As for the corals, that wouldn't be privy to fish diseases, what kind of corals have you tried...

All I mean is, you added a coral you don't know what it is. It could be a leather that releases toxins. Do you QT your fish? Do you run carbon? Your salinity may not swing drastically, but it can be just another stressor.

Not knowing what you bought and put in is a good indication that you may not be educating yourself on proper husbandry. Also, in a tank so small, how do you handle top offs? I have a buddy with a 46 and his salinity swings are drastic because he is lazy and doesn't have an ato

Unless it's acrylic, the tang didn't scratch the glass. Now, on to the tang flashing against the glass: watch closely when it happens. If it's picking with its mouth, it's eating so be happy. If it's scratching it's side/gill area, be worried. Flukes and ich are the 2 likely causes in that...
