  1. Naked snail!

Well I discussed it with my husband as he got in about 10 minutes before me and apparently he actually saw the shell fall off, which I hadn't realised. Not only that, its body seemed to be curled up in a spiral like the shell itself, so it *looked* like a snail, just a soft brown one! I've not...
  2. Naked snail!

When I came home from work the other night we found one of the turbo snails on the front of the tank with his empty shell lying on the sand below - it looks like it had just fallen off! The snail itself looks perfectly healthy, apart from being naked, and is still gliding round the tank as...
  3. Fish ID/advice?

Thanks... This is why I find it so confusing, as several sites have it listed as fourline wrasse! Do cleaner wrasses feed exclusively on parasites, as if so I presume that means its only suitable for very large tanks with lots of fish - I have 2 clownfish, 2 green chromis, a firefish and lemon...
  4. Fish ID/advice?

Okay, I turned down the rabbitfih, thanks for the advice. However, the fishshop have worked out they had a 'red sea wrasse' in that tank originally, which must have been what I saw. After a bit of googling I've found my fish - its a fourline wrasse, larbicus quadrilineatus. Its a beautiful...
  5. Fish ID/advice?

Thanks for the advice, I'll steer clear in that case. I agree that searching by the common name isn't a great idea, but its all I have to go on, as thats all my fish shop have! Looking at the pictures of Siganus Puellus, its a definite no, which makes me even more suspicious that the fish they...
  6. Fish ID/advice?

In the fish shop I noticed a black and blue striped fish, and the label above the tank read 'blue-striped rabbit'. It was beautiful, but rather expensive, so I went back for it another day to find it had been sold. They said they could order one in. I was called in to collect the fish, but...
  7. My first tank...

Thanks for the advice. The first thing I do before buying any fish is to go away and look them up, and couldn't find bluestripe rabbit anywhere myself which was rather disapointing, and all the pictures I turned up under rabbitfish didn't help. Was a beautiful fish though! However, the lady...
  8. My first tank...

Update: Have added some pink star polyps (think thats what they're called!) a pair of green chromis A fire fish Oh, and went back for the bluestripe rabbit only to find it had been sold. They expect to have more however, so have took our name and number, and will call us when one comes in... :D
  9. Clownfish habits?

Aww, nice pic! Still keeping an eye on them just in case though, as the male keeps shimmying in front of the female, which I read somewhere was part of courtship, so fingers crossed! :)
  10. My first tank...

Thanks! Got paid yesterday so bought a protein skimmer today. Makes things a little noiser now, but hopefully worth it.... Was tempted by a fish I saw today (bluestripe rabbit I think it was called), but as it was £35 and protein skimmer was £90 I resisited, plus husband didn't seem convinced.
  11. What do your friends and family think of your 'hobby'

Our tank was a joint decision so my husband is on board, although that makes for difficulty when trying to choose fish etc, as we have different tastes. :) My parents came to visit recently, and after a brief look, seemed pretty disinterested. Everytime something of note happened like the sea...
  12. Clownfish habits?

Pretty much, yep. As soon as the lights go off they'll both swim side by side in the middle of the tank, almost touching the sand. But sometime in the middle of the night they always seem to split up, as when I get up in the morning, one will be asleep in the top left hand corner of the tank...
  13. My first tank...

And lastly, a picture of leather coral, as he was one of the last items we bought for the tank, and we're very proud of it! :D
  14. My first tank...

    And another...
  15. My first tank...

Okay, not great, but gives you an idea of my set-up...
