Have had my tank for about 6 years now with animals and coral about 90# LR. Have about 3 inch sand bed and notice under my rock or between the rock the sand very brownish. Would it be safe for me to move my sand around or vacuum my sand when doing water changes? Appreciate your thoughts.

It has to be the water, I'm getting it from the local mills. so you saying that the water can be bad from the Mill and already have phosphates or other problems. Can the mill water be checked.

I placed some GAC using the mesh bag for 3 days and then did a water change this brown algae is getting worse. I just checked the phosphate and this checks good. Appreciate your thoughts.

Just a comment here. did my water change and siphoned the cyano up. Just making some water temp readings and and they are reading 89-90. could this be a problem or helping the diatom and cyano. Without buying a chiller is there something I can do to drop the temp? I did not have this problem...

I do run a protein skimmer it is a small one but am running one. Thanks for all the help, will ping back back in once I try a few things. I'm sure will have more questions.
