Don't go with the Via Aqua multi skimmer it is a piece of crap. Not much different than a skilter wich is also junk. Use a sump and a good skimmer IMO a much better way to go.
Be careful what kind of rock you add. Some rocks may leach unwanted stuff into your tank. I used tufa rock for my tank seeded with some live rock and after about a month there was all kinds of stuff living on it.

Try this one. It does look like it has small tenticals on the white spots. It's hard to get a good pic because they are only about the size of a pencil eraser.
