  4. What different methodologies are used for Freshwater tanks?

As stated f/w is not as sensitive to PH as the saltwater set ups. On my 50 gal unit I keep the PH between 7.5 to 7.8 and don't let it get above 8.0 The temp is kept at 80. Under these conditions the fish will be active and with what I have (mostly mollies and tetras) have very little losses...
  5. Adding on to a tank

  10. Water quality

I have had the same rocks in the tank for months and monitor the PH on a regular basis, at least weekly, and once set it is stable and does not spike or rise too high. FYI keeping the lights off for 48 hours plus did help to some degree but went ahead and did a couple major water changes 10...
  11. My tank at 2 1/2 weeks

Looks good... How long are you going to let the tank "cure" before adding fish?
  12. "My" tank

At this point it is a $$ question and the closest place that handles salt water suplies is about 70 miles away...
  13. "My" tank

Thought I might post a few pics of the tank. Being freshwater it's no compitition with the saltwater tanks but it's mine... The plants are real...
  14. converting to saltwater

Thanks, in fact when I went with this tank I was looking for an acrylic tank because I like a one piece tanks. But they are hard to come by in this area and are way to expensive...
  15. converting to saltwater
