ultralife float switch. Just keep it in a small containers=1/4gpd a 5g container would be fine. a 33g container if it fail would ask for trouble. flats are pretty dependable, its when they get dirty or fall in. i would clamp it on.A1 tsnami(sp) is suppose to use a vaccum and auto shut off when...
As big as you can afford without straining your wallet. IMO if you become a slave to maintance = time and $$ it's no fun. My puny 120g gave me the extra cost to buy my spa and maintain that 500g bill and take a nice vaca every year. I figured running a kicka$$ 500g would be @ the same but I...
There times when I see 1-2 post a month on glass tanks leakin.g I've had 2 myself leak on me 100g and a 20g. I would say it happens and it's not rare. IMO I would never buy another glass tank unless it was custom built. Oceanics/aga look cheap to me. The seams I just don't think they are top...
IMO if you have alot of returns low in the water just add one return at the top of the tank. even if it's reduced to a 1/2 " flex nozzel. As long as it's connected to the main it will break first and won't clog. If thats not an option I would use an anit siphen at the highest point and include...
IMO bullet skimmer /becket type skimmers are the best. they are built better than Aquac I've seen many aquac. They maybe good skimmers but they still need large pumps when comparing same size skimmers. Euroreefs are good also here some good reading http://thereefweb.com/skimmer_comparison.htm...
They might buta good way to raise them is to get 5-6 stars linkia or whatever. and through a different one in there or chop off a leg and feed. The shrimp. This way you don't kill the stars the regenerate there leggs and tubes= cheaper other wise you will need to always buy. The stars are...
I agree cyano is an easy fix. i belive problem hair alga is harder. if you maintain good water quality and aeriation it's easy to rid cyano. But I had a bad outbreak ....this was before I knew its wasn't liked or good. I let it grow cuz I thought it looked cool untill it started choking...
heat can be a big concern with 400w i couldn't use 400w without a chiller. i didn't want to buy or run a chiller so I went down to 250w. I have a 20g refugium in my garage to help keep cool but it still ran hot. 400w maybe better lighting but heat can be an issue for some setups= a big diff IME
depends on what you keep. But if your not going dedicated sps you may want 2-250w and 1 400w in the middle. If you choose you use only 2 halides you may want 2 -400w. but if you use 3 the 400w in the middle would help give a place for light demanding sps/acro. If power and heat are a concer 3...
The beckets skimmers will skim faster and can be used in or out of sump. euroref are good skimmers but need to be in sump. All good skimmers cost $$ but look at http://www.myreefcreations.com/skimmers.html
