  1. wierd siphon issue on overflow (long)

Son of a b.... I suspect I found the problem, and it's my own doin'. Check out this pic from a few days ago. Notice anything WRONG here? The top line against the ceiling is the one w/the issue... check out how it has that nice rise then drop @ the 90* right by the wall. Wonder if it's...
  2. wierd siphon issue on overflow (long)

I just got a chance to make the first test run of my system since drilling drains and firing up the basement sump. I have two overflow boxes, opposite side of the tank, the drains are 1", and the return rate is like 375 - 400gph. The two drain lines are setup a little differently, so I'll do...
  3. Oceanic Tanks - your opinon

damn, sorry you missed that gem  just keep looking on Craigslist, because I routinely find 1xx+ gallon tanks for dirt cheap, albeit, perhaps not all Oceanic tanks w/starphire
  4. tang help! HLLE

eek, sorry to make you punch in all those digits on your phone 8O sounds good, appreciate it!
  5. tang help! HLLE

uh, how? Are you talking auto topoff? I'm going to eventually get a float switch / solenoid setup for my RO/DI, but in the meantime a $5 auto top off would be mighty fine! I was going to use a $20 Kent float valve in the meantime, but that's $20 I'd rather not spend if at all possible.
  6. Oceanic Tanks - your opinon

Yeah I pretty much heard the same thing... of the major manufacturers, Oceanic is about the best, AGA is very good, and Perfecto is good. That said, I have a 75g Perfecto that has a manufacture date of 1998 and it's still goin strong. Snatch that puppy up :)
  7. jandree22's 75g reef build

Wow, life's been nuts the past few weeks. Finally had time to make progress the past two weeks, though. :) Here she is in all her glory. Painted the stand, tank trim and back pane of glass black. Initially I was disappointed because it was Olympic "Black Magic", which is a deep graphite...

  10. Pairing clowns

  11. Pairing clowns

Wow, didn't know there was such a thing as a Picasso Clown... I thought you were talkin Triggers  The striping on some Picasso's are freekin sweet! 8O (Source: Google Image Search)
  12. lighting upgrade questions

I think some people are keeping 'anything' in 75's under 4 T5's, albeit with good single lamp reflectors as Ben mentioned. That being said, I'd still go with at least 6, or as you're planning, 8 would be awesome. I can't cite PAR numbers, but I have heard that a single 54w T5 bulb has roughly...
  13. Havent changed water in 2 months

might want to PM beaslbob, he tends to be a proponent of not changing the aquarium water, albeit, this is in his planted FW tanks... not sure if he does this in saltwater too. he has had success at least in his FW tanks. that being said, if you're doing it out of a interest in that methodology...
  14. Pairing clowns

son of a bi---! I've got all of my fish in a 30g holding tank while I work on my 75g. Went down to feed them, and that 6yo clown I was talking about? Missing. After an exhaustive search, including the floor, I found him dead, pinned behind a rock  I don't know how it happened, all...
  15. Need help caring for Sun (Sunflower?) Coral

I'm honestly glad it's working out for you, but please, next time research before you buy. It's tempting, but success is a rare outcome of impulse buys
