  9. Which should I trust, refractometer or hydrometer?

    the refractometer is right. 35ppt is an ideal salinity for reef aquariums. when you say "calibrated it again with RO and they were pretty close" what exactly do you mean? the refractometer should read the RO water at 0ppt and the solution at 35ppt when correctly calibrated.
