  1. New 125 Coral Life Protein Skimmer Skims well Mostly Water

I have the smaller model running in my sump with no problems. Did you follow the installation instructions? I had an issue at first, but it was because I didn't follow the steps on ensuring proper height/distances of the input and output tubes. How long have you had it running, how high are...
  2. How the hell does one build a Sump/Refugium?

    heres where i learned http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/glass/
  3. need help on where to buy ro/di and more

Like x, I bought a pure water club. They shipped quick, install was easy and it works perfectly. And I haven't seen ro's at home depot, just purifiers
  4. RO/DI Setup

Yup, the tank sits on top of the shelf with my drinking spigot next to it. It is a 4 gallon bladder tank that holds 3.2 gallons of water. My system has been hooked up for a couple of weeks now and has been working great! As dupaboy does, I think I might add another tank for extra storage...
  5. please help...first sump/fuge attempt

I used 1 5/8" for the line coming into the sump and 3/4" for the return. The return tee is there to let water flow directly back into the sump. The return pump will be so strong that water will go back into the main tank faster than it will drain into the sump. You "start" the overflow going...
  6. please help...first sump/fuge attempt

I would use flex as well. Just look at my photos in the link a few replies above: You use hard pvc and put a tee at the return pump output with a ball valve on the side going back into the sump You can put a ball valve on the sump inlet side but run it wide open - you only close it for service
  7. My Biggest 90 Gallon Tank Build Project Evur!

You should get a pressure gauge and you might find that you need a booster pump. I have the same unit as you with the carbon filter (for drinking water), a permeate pump and a TDS meter. I'm putting out almost 100gpd at an average of 50lbs of water pressure.
  8. Reefs.org becoming a porn site!!!????

The mods know and are slated to switch some things with the site during the beginning of this year.....i hope...
  9. canister or power filter?

Why not spend the money elsewhere (sump?) and use the rock as the filter.
  10. Help!?

What type of skimmer do you have? Did the power go out or your overflow get plugged? How is your sump configured? A plausible cause: The skimmer return got clogged causing too much pressure, which results in the water in your collection cup filling.
  11. Coralife Skimmer Problem

I called them, described the problem and three day slater I have a free replacement air silencer. I can manually suck and blow air through both holes, so the original one was clearly plugged - I could probably just drill it out. So now the skimmer works perfect! I can't believe the difference...
  12. Maybe stupid cycle question

I'm gonna have to side with X in that he wasn't being condescending. I cycled my tank with 4 Damsels and only wish I didn't because I can't catch them to bring them back to my LFS!!
  13. RO/DI Setup

Not really a DIY, but I'm setting the system up myself. 6 Stage 100gpd RO/DI with two outputs and a small bladder tank, permeate pump, pressure gauge and TDS meter. This was my Christmas present to myself.... I just need a couple more plumbing parts and plan on having things running by the...
  14. please help...first sump/fuge attempt

Yup, its needlepoint. Good idea, thanks!
  15. please help...first sump/fuge attempt

X: Yeah, I didn't mean to say liteerally equal pressure, but enough "weight" from the water pushing on both sides to stop the lexan from bowing. Thanks for the mesh info - I need something for it. Is it like a screen door screen, but made out of plastic, like a needlepoint board?
