I ran mine at the reef crest setting for 6 months or so but switched to short pulse a few weeks ago. Haven't noticed any difference in the corals.

Hello,
Here's a video of my personal tank. Some of the fish I've had for 15 years and many of the corals are from 1997.

Just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for your hospitality at MACNA! It was great meeting you and talking shop (and the beer was good too). The Manhattan Reefers ROCK!
You magazine looks very nice. Good job!

Metal halide lighting and clams both became available to the average hobbyist about the same time (halides slightly earlier). Yes halides are the recommended lighting for the Tridacna sp. in general. Yes they can be kept under other lighting setups but be prepared to keep the other parameters...
Great pictures everyone! I already have about 32 fish but I always want just one more (I'm the same with corals). My Anthias sp. and my Naso tie for my favorite fish.

Kevin
I have several types of Anthias and have not found them to be difficult to keep either. The hardest part seems to get the LFS to get any in.

PS: I was able to get all of them to eat within 2 days with raw shrimp from the store. All three types I have it's their favorite food.
Brent does excellent work. he is a real craftsman and will stand behind his work. He built my sump last summer and it is shown in the Jan. issue of Reefkeeping in the article titled:

Rover,
Yes that can certainly be true but not in every market. So you still have to know your market in advance.
I hear it often in the LFS talking to customers wondering why the LFS is charging so much compared to on line or giant retailers. They really think the LFS is gouging them and...
Yes it is bleached and may actually be H. crispa. It's difficult to tell them apart when bleached unless you can check the column for prominent verrucae.
Both H. crispa and H. malu are shallow water, sand dwelling, high light species.

The decision on what products and livestock to carry needs to be based on your market (not on the stuff you want to see in your tank :) ). If you plan to sell only locally then that market should be your target. If Wal-Mart and Petco are in a small town/market area and are selling fresh water...
I am going to be starting my LFS March 1st :) Greg’s advice is very sound. After having built and managed MFG plants in Mexico (2), Poland, and Brazil I'm going to try something a little different than the corporate world in that the buck stops here :)
Here are a couple of tips that really...
