I have used the STC valves myself in 12v, the 120 volt can have copper shading coils in the water. I have used and sold quite a few and so far have only had one fail after about 4 years of use (happened to be my tank). Kim

You can keep crocea clams under PC's. I had one in a Nano cube DX with I think 2 18 watt PC's over it. Did not grow fast, but it grew. Clam was only about 3 inches below the bulbs though. Kim

The only problem with keeping your alk at 7 is if anything goes wrong it can drop down really low fast. A fast growing tank can loose over 1 dkh a day, so there is less room for mistakes with a new sps keeper. Kim

Yes it can be. I would suggest getting a different test kit, I have never liked that kit. The salifert and elos are very good, and API is good and very inexpensive. Kim
