  1. pyramidellidae snail?

Wow, didn't realize the mystery snails were so small. The adults I've seen were all 1/2" or maybe 3/4" at the most. If they don't seem to get any bigger or you are suspicious of them you could try asking dr. ron at www.reefcentral.com
  2. pyramidellidae snail?

I think there are a ton of different kinds of nassarius snails. How big are the bigger ones you got? I once got sold a molluscivore conch under the impression that it was just a big nassarius, it took me a long time to figure out what was killing my astraea :(
  3. ID on LR Hitch's

Sorry...It's sometimes really hard to guess without a picture. 5 long tentacles makes me thing of sea cucumbers or basket stars. Being echidnoderms they tend to have appendages in quintets. Any chance it's something along those lines? As for the second thing, is there any reason not to think...
  4. pyramidellidae snail?

To me it looks like a nassarius snail.
  5. Cucumber??

Here's a good thing to know. Cucumbers are echidnoderms along with starfish and urchins and like starfish and urchins, Sea cucumbers tend to move using little suction cup extensions as opposed to inching along.
  6. Any ideas what it is?

Chitons generally have 8 plates in the middle, no tentacles, don't reproduce or grow quickly, and are capable of movement. I'd love to help but without a picture you know it's tough. Well, could you give it a guess to narrow things down? Do you think it's a coral, an anemone, a mollusc, a...
  7. Web in my tank

There are gastropods who feed by sending out strings of mucus, perhaps you have some of these in your tank? Are there multiple threads connecting at single points?
  8. Who else can I ask for help on IDing something?

I'm afraid to hurt it, I know that hermit crabs will let themselves be torn in two rather than letting go of their shells. Dr. Ron at reefcentral also thought it was a crab...I think he said dromeid crabs are known to occupy clam shells. I'll let you know if I get a better picture or if i ever...
  9. Who else can I ask for help on IDing something?

I've read through the hitchhiker faq, i've asked on #reefs, and I've asked at nano-reef.com, but so far nobody has been able to help at all. I'm going crazy trying to figure out what the weird thing in my liverock is http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15079 I know my picture is not very...
  10. It lives in a clam shell but it's not a clam

I am having a really hard time figuring out what this is. Unfortunately, the only way I can see it is at a fairly big angle so it is somewhat blurred no matter what i do. Here are two pics. It is that little thing in the bottom of the shell, at first I thought it was covered by a hard...
