  1. Ending Cyanide Use One Net at a Time- Story & Pics

That is fantastic news Mary. Great to hear. Thanks for heading up this project. - Mac
  2. Tang Police, eat your heart out!

Who said anything about a 30 gallon? I kept 'em in my 20-Long ;) That's plenty of swimming room. - Mac
  3. Tang Police, eat your heart out!

LOL! That was kinda my point to posting... I figured they'd appreciate hearing about a fish that got his due after a few years. Lotsa swimming room for this guy to grow. Now if I can just convince my wife that the tank doesn't _really_ need a hippo tang, I'll be all set. - Mac
  4. Tang Police, eat your heart out!

6 years in captivity, easily as big as my hand (and a mean SOB to boot)... I actually saw him smile at me yesterday after I moved him over into his new home. If you look closely, you'll see the corner's of his mouth are upturned :D - Mac
  5. Meet my Sarcophytons

Hehehe, Yeah, what Chris Said! ;) - Mac
  6. Anybody ever have a fish jump onto a crossbrace?

Had a cooked Clownfish here... - Mac
  7. Rotating Pump Output

Actually, now that I look at it closer and think about it, there are 6 screws evenly spaced, so I could rotate it in multiple's of 60-degree's, but even that would be better than straight into the back of the tank. - Mac
  8. Rotating Pump Output

I've got an Iwaki70 pump I want to use as my closed loop Circulation. I want to mount it to the wall behind my tank (see pic here). The pump's output is opposite the mounting holes in the base of the pump, so I don't have a lot of room between the pump's output, and the back wall of the tank. If...
  9. DIY LFS! Just a little blood, sweat and tears and lotsa $$$

Nice documentation. Glad to see you take all those pics and explain the process there. Sounds like a helluva lot of work, too! Best of luck. - Mac
  10. Does anyone sell Xanthid (acro) crabs?

Ditto Righty's request. I'm grappling with that concern with stocking my new tank. I would like nothing more than to be able to say every cnardian in there was captive raised, but... then I'll never get an Acro crab. Seems like an insignificant thing to throw the whole CR plan out the window on...
  11. Doing the Wild Thing, Red serpent style?

I'm running Mozilla 1.2.1, and they worked for me (FWIW). Nice shots! How long have you had those stars? Any problems with them eating unwanted things? Those are very nice looking animals. I think it would be something incredible if they did end up reproducing! That may be a first for captivity...
  12. 480 gallon sump up and running.

Awesome 'fuge Craw! We've got a guy down here (named 'Guy') who has a 10'x10' refugium (forget how many gallons), and I have to admit, I too, just love to sit on the edge and stare at it all. Reminds me of Tropicorium. Something to be said to just sitting there and watching a big fish swim...
  13. Leemar 180 AGA Failed Today and lost all water!!!!!!

That's good to know WillC... we use Nationwide, and our agent is a friend of the family. When I moved into our house and got the homehowners from him, we had special riders put on for certain things (computer equip., etc.) I asked about the tank at that time, and he said we would normally be...
  14. Quietest chiller and pump

The quietest sizeable chiller I've ever seen are the one's we use at work! PolyScience makes a line designed for chemical baths, laser applications, etc. They are re-circulating, or, as we use them, w/ a refrigerant and heat exchanger inside the device (sump in this case). We have.. 6 of them...
  15. Okay. Five-foot 110 gallon reef. How would*you* light it?

I'll second the Radiums. Buddy of mine had a pair of 400W HQI 20K Radiums over his 65 gallon tank.. That thing ROCKED! - Mac
