  1. Ferrous Oxide Phosphate Removers

Just a heads up to anyone contemplating the use of Rowaphos. Once the enclosed filter sock gets wet, the media is able to pass through. I placed enough media in the sock to fill the space within a Fluval 2Plus. After a few days of continuous use, I noticed a reduced flow rate. When I tried...
  2. #reefs access: server change

At the risk of of jinxing things ;) it appears the attack is finally over. Using irc.after.xnet eu.afterx.net or us.afterx.net should work. If not then dns caching hasn't caught up with itself yet, and should very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience! :)
  3. #reefs access: server change

It appears the attack is coming from multiple sources, one of which we've eliminated. A disgruntled server admin whose link application was recently denied had some "friends" issuing a little payback. However servers are still being attacked. The hunt continues. I'll keep you posted.
  4. #reefs access: server change

As you know, the IRC network is under attack. It's been sustained for over 8 hours now. So we've added a temporary server which isn't affected by the attack. Use /server 207.6.123.209 6659 to connect or /server 207.6.123.209:6659 depending on your IRC client. Sorry for this, and I hope it...
  5. #reefs access: server change

AfterX is under attack. A sustained ddos since about 10pm eastern last night has effectively shut down the network. Hopefully the kiddiot will get bored and move on soon. Sorry for any inconvenience.
  6. #reefs access: server change

Looks like AfterX.net will be the permanent name. Currently we have servers in the US, Sweden, and Norway. Using irc.afterx.net will randomly place you on a server (round robin). I would suggest using us.afterx.net if you reside in the Americas, and eu.afterx.net if your reside anywhere else...
  7. #reefs access: server change

Shane, It's a temporary change, but we will more than likely not be going back to the Xnet name. The network itself will remain, just a change in name.
  8. #reefs access: server change

Due to some difficulties with the registrar, xnet domain is inactive. Please use irc.afterx.net to connect for the time being. Please spread the word.

  10. Aquaspacelight 250w Fixture Users

Just an update. After reading the article on reflectors, I lowered my canopy down to nine inches above the water. Haven't noticed anything different except for being much easier on the eyes.
  11. Eco-Aqualizer Testing

Where can I buy one?
  12. Who Carries Non-Color Changing DI Cartridges?

Spectrapure...more specifically the DI-SB-10 "SilicaBuster Mixed Bed DI Cart".
  13. Hell on Wheel- My Powder Blue Tang

    Great pictures!
  14. Cuttlefish movie!

    Awesome!
  15. Spectrum vs. PAR

The article by Richard Harker points out the dawn/dusk effect so many apply is needless. FWIW, in my system there is only a 15 minute difference between PC's turning on/off over the halides. I look at it as a small courtesy offered to the fish. :) Perhaps when intensity is so great then...
