I actually prefer to start a reacotr on a new system if you have one. This will allow you the time to tweak the reactor before it is necessary to keep up with a huge CA demand. For best results, get your CA and ALK where you want them with a buffer solution, then let the reactor maintain...
Reminder that the Anthony Calfo event is October 11 at 7:30. The book signing will start at 7. Anthony will be speaking on coral propogation. The event is at:

We will be having raffles for Kent...
If your reactor has the effluent drip valve at the exit of your reactor, this will in essence slow the flow down form the "tee'd" portion of your input. I would put a valve, probably the JG at the inlet for maintenance...so you can shut it off and not have to worry about leaks....
I have 6 Anthias and 2 tangs that love to eat...so i do feed fairly heavily, but not as heavy as I used to....I only feed 3 cubes 1 time/day now, I used to feed that twice per day... :D
FWIW, PVC sheet isn't that much less expensive than acrylic....much denser and harder to route if you go beyond 1/4" Have to have special glue if you bond it to acrylic....etc etc....it can be done though...
Osama,
I sent you a PM....we will replace the flanges with our new 3/8" thick version. These also have a much thicker Oring. If you want us to do it send me an email at [email protected] Thanks!
Thanks Ralphy....glad the reactor is working out for you.... Nice looking corals there...
It is amazing the coralline that will grow. Your corals will start taking off next! :D
I may be wrong, but I think that is Arnon's tank...out near San Diego... I know it isn't Jeff's tank. I will see if I can find his board name again....
Just saw the picture....I didn't wait for it to DL. :D Anyway, I would definitely lower the water line in the bottom tube....the MAK 4 is an Iwaki 55 clone not the PCX pump.....If you don't have enough pump power it could be trickling out of the beckett, but shouldn't be shooting out.
