  3. Nikonians Only

-Wow I didn't know that about the focusing system on the 5D that's pretty lame, especially for high speed sports related photography that Canon basically owns with it's following of their long lenses (ie. sideline pictures at any sporting event). -Your right I don't crop many shots...
  4. Nikonians Only

D700 vs 5D MKII I guess if you don't have any previous lenses that IS a hard choice. I'm sure you know these things already but just pointing out to all that the Canon 5D MKII can shoot HD (1080p) video, like the Nikon D90- the D700 can't. So if that's important to you then that's a pretty...

  8. ESV B-Ionic 'Calcium Bicarbonate' vs 'Calcium Buffer' System

Randy I don't believe so, but I don't honestly know off hand. I just know that all tanks go through the ph swing from day vs night light cycles. So it doesn't sound like that's enough of a reason to switch then I'd stay with the more potent original formula. Thanks.
  9. ESV B-Ionic 'Calcium Bicarbonate' vs 'Calcium Buffer' System

I'm running low on ESV 2-part. Anyone use ESV's B-Ionic System and have you switched to the newer 'Calcium Bicarbonate System' vs the original 'Calcium Buffer System'? Any opinions? Benefits? According to ESV: B-Ionic Calcium Bicarbonate System is a specially formulated, lower pH version of...
  10. Metal Halide Bulbs - Ebay?

kool-cat: That's where I was headed- and in the name of saving $, but then I thought this bulb replacement expense is divided over a years time and if I got a no name off ebay that was somehow off spectrum or less PAR would I really be saving $ if I had to then go out and buy what I ended up...
  11. Metal Halide Bulbs - Ebay?

  12. Metal Halide Bulbs - Ebay?

Hey what's a FTS? not familiar with the acronym?
  13. ev-400 aquac skimmer - not much skimate

I can attest to this, although mine is an EV-240 I get the same type of sometimes no froth and sometimes it slowly accumulates all the way up to the skimmer cup. I always do get scum collecting on the sides of the clear canister just above the black box that I have to clean in my maintenance...
  14. Metal Halide Bulbs - Ebay?

Went with XM's- Much Brighter Just wanted to provide a follow up on this thread: I went with 10k XM's (175 watt) and am thoroughly impressed with the added brightness compared to the previous 'Blue Line Super White' bulbs I've been using for a number of years. The added brightness/PAR is very...
  15. My basement

Yeah I figured that, I was going to see how things progressed and change them as needed, it sounded a little arbitrary. Do you recall for your setup how long the filters lasted? I'm running it at the minimum 2.5 gpd (for everyone else's info that's approx. a 75 gallon water change per month!)...
