  1. Does the hobby die without FedEx?

Perhaps I just missed it, but if there were no FedX, just exactly how would these LFS that the hobbiest should run to GET their livestock in the stores? Trucks?
  2. Coral Reef and Aquarium Advisory Group

It's a good thing they weren't called Coral Reef and Aquarium Advisory Posse. The acronym would have been a hoot.
  3. Drs. Foster and Smith in Target Stores Near You

As a hobbiest, I say congratulations on your venture with Target. They are my favorite broad spectrum store (way ahead of WalMart or Kmart). Looking forward to see the stuff from catalogs on the shelves :)
  4. Who needs wholesalers/LFS/etailers, let's do a group buy

I'm afraid I reported it. I felt that they were abusing the local forum since anyone who could take almost $6K in orders was hardly a "hobbiest". For that kind of volume, get a license, and pay for your ad. I suppose he won't be able to afford his civic and go drifting now
  5. Ricordea bust in the Keys part 2

Don't blame the contractor...I'm a buyer who's purchased a few of those mega-dollar toilet seats. If the Guv wouldn't spec stuff like Nuclear Hardened silk lamp shades for Air Force One...we wouldn't be buying them
  6. Lost Opportunity?

Didn't he already do that on MarineDepot? It went something like "it's lies, it's all lies...people are out to get me" Then the thread went *poof*
  7. Lost Opportunity?

I remember the alleged "tank vandalism". How does this play into that, or does it? At the time I frankly thought EB sounded a little paranoid. The old "people are out to get me" was over the top. Now I wonder? Did he set up the crash to cover up? All in all it's a pretty disappointing...
  8. Who needs wholesalers/LFS/etailers, let's do a group buy

Honestly I can't remember if we were taxed or not? I do remember it was cash only. I also remember we were provided a paper receipt of purchase, so I don't think anyone was trying to pull a fast one. SDC has been very nice to our club.
  9. Who needs wholesalers/LFS/etailers, let's do a group buy

I've been to SDC as a club member on an annual visit. While the prices were slightly less than retail, no way were they wholesale IMO. As an example, I think I paid around $3.50/lb for haitian live rock. (I don't mean to be ungrateful, I appreciated SDC letting our club visit, but I wanted to...
  10. Who needs wholesalers/LFS/etailers, let's do a group buy

Darn it, that figures  I go get some popcorn, ready to settle in for the drama and now it's all over
  11. Some Wal-Mart stores to stop selling pet fish...

I always felt a little guilty when I brought home sushi and ate in front of the reef tank 8O
  12. Some Wal-Mart stores to stop selling pet fish...

Selling "feeder" fish = OK (to make profit) Disposing of fish = Deplorable (to lose money)? I don't have feelings one way or another about either, but it seems silly to buy into the idea that it's OK to purchase fish and sell them for the express purpose of their being eaten, and yet deplore a...
  13. Who needs wholesalers/LFS/etailers, let's do a group buy

That's ironic. Pot meet kettle. Isn't that exactly what I've been reading all you B & M owners claim for the last 3 years :?: "Don't support etail, it'll be the death of us" "Don't support etail, it's not fairrrrrrr......" "Etail is badddd, it's not rightttt, it's the devillllll"
  14. Pet Co makes its move!!!!!!!!!

Compared to what we're used to paying around SoCal, most of it is high. On the other hand, if you live in "flyover" country...maybe not so high :?:
  15. Update on ricordea bust in the Keys

Who didn't see that one coming
