  1. Moving mushrooms

Yeah, it actually cures BEST underwater. It really bonds tightly when you glue out of the water and then dunk it. :)
  2. Been feeding my Ricordia

I put them in medium flow, (there needs to SOME flow to wash away the slime, but Ricordea hate too much circulation so don't overdo it!) Lighting won't matter too much as long as it is not TOO intense- they will quickly recover from the slice. My personal favorite Ricordea lighting is...
  3. Can you propogate ricordia the same way as regular mushrooms

I just posted a response on a similar thread: http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=44821
  4. Been feeding my Ricordia

A razor blade right through the center should do the trick... :) Just use a clean, unused blade and slice it cleanly. It works best if you do not damage the foothold on rock, so I like to slice through with the razor blade and then divide the rock with kitchen scissors. :) I have...
  5. Moving mushrooms

I use an awesome pair of kitchen scissors to snip the Live Rock around Ricordea mushrooms into a small chip, attempting to leave the foot's grip on the rock chip undamaged. Then, I use superglue (cyanacrolate) gel to glue the CHIP to whatever rock I want to, holding the glued rock underwater...

    OK, I'll stop... :D

  8. Orange Ricordia Gallery

Nice one, Travis- I think it is wild how they look like they were painted when you look closely like in your pic! This one has the "splattered paint" look on some of the tentacles, though not close enough to see as clearly:

  10. SPS under VHO? A picture is woth a thousand words...

The biggest thing that whacked this shoot a bit was the dimmer on his ICECAP 660. The cartoon effect was much more pronounced when dimmed.
  11. I got a pair of matched firefish!

I have a pair of those in my Ricordea tank, Minh. They are very well behaved for damsels! Gorgeous blue, too. This tank is a 75-gallon that is mostly Actinic White VHO (my last surviving VHO tank, hehe), and the fish just seem to GLOW blue. I don't have many good pics of them, but there is...
  12. SPS under VHO? A picture is woth a thousand words...

Jason, it dependes on the bulbs you run. I switched from 440-watts of VHO to 2 x 250 watts MH with 2 x 65 watts actinic PC, and my water temperature runs one degree COOLER. Of course, I tried running a 400watter and it got way too hot. There is a HUGE difference in the temp from a 400. (Of...
  13. SPS under VHO? A picture is woth a thousand words...

Oversaturated in processing? The pics were taken point and shoot, resized in Adobe Photoshop Elements. Some of the pics were taken with the dimmer at various stages, so there is more Actinic effect in some pictures than others. No deliberate manipulation of colors was done, and yes- the...
  14. SPS under VHO? A picture is woth a thousand words...

Actually, there was no "goosing"- whatever that is. 220 watts of VHO actinic has a pronounced effect on coloration, as does the 50/50 and the AquaSun. What you see is the look of the three bulbs on colorful corals. I do not use any photoshopping techniques, and I do not set the white balance...
  15. SPS under VHO? A picture is woth a thousand words...

I took some new pictures last night of Paul Ifkovits' VHO-only Oceanic 120G. I had originally photographed Paul's tank about six months ago- and wanted to see what the growth looked like. Paul runs 660 watts of VHO over his 120, using 2 each: AquaSun, Actinic 03, and Actinic white URI...
