Most of these creatures come from the area of the world that gets blasted with the most UV (equator) at least best place for uv till we squashed the ozone. common sense should tell you that these animals have evolved to not just tolerate the uv but to thrive in it. a good example would be GFP...

I've had this hermit for about six months now in a 30 gallon tank, he was about the size of a baseball and I regularly fed him large krill (daily).. he used to molt regularly, about every other month, he hadent molted in three months then just yesterday he was sitting in the middle of the tank...

The only decent rock i can find in michigan is at tropicorium, I ask for peices that have been sitting in the end of their propagation pools for years, not their LR holding tank, that stuff moves through to quick. preuses in okemos occasionally gets good rock but not as consistantly as i would like.
