Generally brown hard corals is due to high nutrients in the water causing large amounts of Zooxanthallea growth thus the brown coloration. Most holding systems and LFS have very nutrient rich water. I would say that your more intense lighting along with better water quality is the cause of the...
I have heard that the silicon is sloppy and if you ask the main guy if he is sure about the structor of his tanks (ie. you want thicker glass) he tells you to go somewhere else if you dont like it.
I would use them though, probably, the prices are to damn good to turn down.
Sorry the mirror is not behind the tank but beside it. I would still check it out if I were you.

I have seen a 800gallon thread over at reefcentral where he used mirrors. It worked well but I dont think he just mounted it on the back. If I recall correctly he had them angled so they would reflect other areas of the tank. I remeber it being a freaking sweet tank.
WHY so you cant buy it for any cheaper?
SOME PEOPLE HAVE MORE MONEY THAN YOU, that is a fact of life Im sure people droping a few hundred on a frag is not going to even dent their wallet. If anything you should be happy. Go out find these rare species or crazy color morphs and a frag them and...
It can and will easily happen within the first inch of the substrate.
But like I said it in a nano and most large tanks it will not hold much bearing on tank health.
I would agree that in a small tank substrate buffering does not hold that much of a bearing on tank health. BUT I just wanted to point out that I think you are wrong in the above statement. In lower areas of the sand bed because of lack of water movement you will get VERY high or low PH readings...
