  1. 300 Gal Build

She refers to herself as a fish widow :) I'm finding as I get things lined out and the automation matures, I'm having to spend less and less time managing the system - guess that was the plan.... We now spend a lot more time in the basement - it seems to never get old looking at the diversity...
  2. 300 Gal Build

Sorry folks, It's been a while since I posted any updates to my 300 gal build - been crazy busy lately. Instead of the step by step posts like I've done in the past, thought I'd post a link with pics of the completed build. These pics show the front fa?ade, the fish room, and some close-ups of...
  3. wins 180 gallon mix reef build thread

wins, one other thing, I would add another AI when you can. with only 4 in that setup, you will have some shadowing..
  4. wins 180 gallon mix reef build thread

Have to say, that's a really nice stand and canopy...LOL!
  5. wins 180 gallon mix reef build thread

That looks pretty familiar.. LOL. Hey Wins, you need 4" filter socks, they fit in the sock holder. I had a few left, but they were pretty worn out, they were getting pretty old.
  6. skimmer help

Hey Wins - I had a small plastic round piece that restricted the flow into the pump slightly. That worked, but was probably not the best solution. I thought that was still in the pump inlet. The best way to fix the problem is to do what a few people have suggested, set it on a shelf (egg...

Acrylic Panel Problem Sliding down is also problematic as we built a catwalk around the tank. I'm probably just going to have to remove it by hand when needed
  8. 300 Gal Build

Thought about the acrylic back - but I don't have enough ceiling height for it to be pulled up with a pulley. I still may use some sort of black acrylic piece that I can just lift off easily
  9. 300 Gal Build

I'm leaning toward something removable also. Thanks Duromega for the vote of confidence. I have alot more to post, trying to do it sequentially as I photo documented the entire build. As of today, the tank is aquascaped, up and running and I have 2 fish in the tank. I'm transferring all of...
  10. 300 Gal Build

Correct, just viewable from the front panel as it will be built into wall. Still debating on the back panel to paint it or just use some sort of black panel or removable backdrop. I like seeing in from the fish room.
  11. 300 Gal Build

Move In Day At 350 Lbs empty, the 300 Gal Deep Dimension needs a few people to help lift it. We had 8 people total. Really need 6 to lift it safely. In the 2nd picture, you might notice the suction cups. I bought 6 industrial suction cups, these were a tremendous help. Not only...
  12. 300 Gal Build

The Stand I started with a top and bottom frame to exact dimensions of what I wanted. The base of the stand is exactly 1" longer and 1" wider than the tank giving me a little play. The tank placement is flush with the front edge as it will be "built into the wall". The base...
  13. 300 Gal Build

Demo Day Sorry for the delay in posting progress, been crazy busy, but now have some time so I'll start posting pics and descriptions of the build. Before I get started, I again want to than Russ from Saltwater Critters who has helped me tremendously to get this project done...
  14. 300 Gal Build

Hello all, I'm new to Manhattan Reefs, but thought I'd share my build and maybe get to know some of you fellow Reefers and maybe get a few ideas from you more experienced reef maniacs! Like I've become... :) This will be the start of a continuing series. First - Thanks to masterswimmer for all...
