anyone know where i can get these bulbs in our around fairfax VA? i usually order from marine depot but don't have time to wait this time (and i need 3)... do pet stores carry these (i'd be suprised if my local petsmart did)!? help.

ps one problem i DO have (that may or may not have anything at all to do with water changes) is flatworms... for about the last 2-3 months i've had a moderate population of them annoying me... but hell - the little buggers are just trying to get by like all the rest of us - but i do wish it...

until i read some posts after mine in this thread - i was starting to think i was the only one who didn't do them!!! but no i've never really had anything but luck with my 75 gal tank, it's fish, inverts and corals (knock on wood) - no clarity problems to speak of or any other problems...

i don't know if i'm totally beyond the norm here but i NEVER do water changes... i just add. 2 years and reef is (and always has been) great - i've never done one water change... everything is clear, beautiful and growing.

i've had a ton of success with one fan on each side of my canopy (L and R). one blowing in, and the opposite one blowing out! great circulation... not sure what i would do if i only had one... i'm thinking blow in... but wait - blowing out seems to make sense too 8O

ok after doing some research - i've about narrowed it down to the EV120 or the Euroreef CS6-2... anyone had any BAD experiences with either of these? i've had such bad luck with my turbofloater and it's rio's that I'm really trying ot make a good choice on my next skimmer...

my wife accidentally bought me a few packs of frozen krill cubes instead of the brine or mysis shrimp... may sound like a dumb question but can i feed my tank the krill? i have 2 percs, 2 anthias, a maroon clown, 2 fire fish, a bottlenose butterfly, a yellow tang, a couple gobies and assorted...

i'm trying to rid myself o the dreaded turbofloater once and for all (yeah the one with the rio 2100 driving it)... what's a GOOD in-sump skimmer someone can recommend to me? (for a 75 gallon reef).

PS - before i start regularly stirring up detritus and such - do i have to worry about the ensuing murkiness harming my fish (or anyone else?)

this is almost a revolutionary discovery for me - i can't believe i've been doing this 18 months and never thought of this... thanks guys! and to think all this time i've been trying hard NOT to kick up detritus when it might actually be something i should have been doing... commence brain...

haha - very true. i'm just overly paranoid with my dreams of the bottom busting out after we lift it!!!! but that's tempered glass...

it's interesting you say that - i've spent my 18 months reef keeping trying NOT to stir up detritus!!!! my skimmer sucks - are there way better ones out there than the turbofloater?

this may open a new thread but when you mention "rocks" and such in your sump - what is in your sump? in mine is just my heater, return pump, skimmer, pH probe and thermometer... do you keep live "stuff" down there (i.e. LR)?

hmm good idea. i have a dreaded turbofloater T100 (?) skimmer in a 30 gallon rubbermaid tub i'm using as my under the tank sump... it's likely this may be the culprit... i'm going to try the sponge idea you use - what type of "sponge" material are you using?
