  1. Is this whats known as a bubble tip anemone?

surfdawake, ouside of Cleveland Ohio. The store I'm talking about most probably don't even know what they are when they see them, or most other corals etc. for that matter. They are about 80% freshwater, and only about 20% saltwater. RMS. Aquatic Technologies is my main store, and his prices...
  2. Is this whats known as a bubble tip anemone?

I definately agree it's not a majano, trust me, I have them, but I wanted to comment on prices....For what you guys are talking big bucks, I can get here for 30 dollars!!!! I should start a business!! Actually, the certain store sucks, but all corals and anemones are 30 dollars aside from clams...
  3. Any idea what this is?

I agree with the possiblity of an encrusting sponge, the "mouths" may be syphons you are seeing.
  4. Dumb Tank stand Question...

I actually would prefer to see the stand, or atleast an idea of the design before answering.....not all stands are created equal. :) I wouldn't think two inches would make a big difference, but I would never say that without seeing the design and knowing what type of quality the stand is....if...
  5. white things on glass

Manofathousandpolyps, I agree with you here again. :)
  6. ID white Spheres on Glass

I agree with Spirorbidae worms as well..very very common......hard white tiny coils. I have never considered them as a sign of a healthy tank so much as a tank that can and does support filter feeders. Of course, their presence does seem to indicate a well working tank nonetheless. If they are...
  7. Red Bubble plants or coral on live rock?

BTW, if it is botryocladia, I don't think the bubbles contain spores like valonia..not 100% though. Best of luck and happy Thanksgiving. :)
  8. Red Bubble plants or coral on live rock?

Search on BOTRYOCLADIA . Foxfaces will tear the stuff up..absolutely love it, but your tank's too small. :( The stuff sometimes takes over tanks very fast.
  9. Monster Homeowner saying Hi

HI Pam, guys, Pam did first show up at a board I "frequent" well before the show aired, and I had no clue who she was, or that she was a "monster house winner" Since I am this site at the moment and found this thread, I will say she is a very intelligent woman, and I find it absolutely great...
  10. "Tap Water Filter"

As some have already noted, tapwater discussions often lack reason since all tapwater across this country and others can be completely different. Every American is entitled to a FREE water quality report from their water company, just call, ask, and post a scan of it here for folks to look at. I...
  11. Tank size does affect growth rates

Wow, I just checked back to see what you guys thought about the post I made....absolutely great responses. I saw diet mentioned a few times regarding the full grown size of fish, and how can you not agree with that when we have even seen this with humans the last few centuries? This would of...
  12. Tank size does affect growth rates

So you think he was just blowing smoke? I don't know either way. I did read, many years ago, about deformed fish that were in too small of tanks. The article had pics as well. It's really hard in this hobby to sift through all the info when it conflicts on so many subjects. The hobby wasn't...
  13. Tank size does affect growth rates

BTW, he was a little harsh at times when he posted :D, but extremely intelligent and a wealth of info. Anyone here ever heard of "Growth Inhibitor Hormones"? This reply he made was the first and last time I had heard of them, and any links to info for further reading would be very appreciated.
  14. Tank size does affect growth rates

A former mod at another board wrote this reply several years ago on the subject. The guy was incredibly intelligent, and he brings up very interesting points. The truth contained, or lack of, can be decided for yourselves, but I found it interesting enough to still remember the post was buried...
