One quick correction, my Eheim is the model 1060 with a higher gpm rating. I also checked the gpm on my Little Giant and it was significantly less than I recalled, I believe my total gpm is really closer to 1300.

If I recall correctly this happened to me once. I found I had a low magnesium level and when this was boosted back up to ~1350 the problem seemed to go away. Coincidence or correlation, I am not sure. - scott -

Shane - I had seen the Advanced Aquarist article yesterday and it prompted me lower the water level in my sump to get more churning going on in the sump (previously the water level had been fairly high minimizing the potential of O2 incorporation?)...it'll be interesting to see if that helps...
