I was at Beitels Aqurium today and seen this starfish. I was told it's not reef safe. Any idea what species this is? I tried searching google but could not find much without a specific name. I believe he said it comes from around Africa.
Just wondering what type of Zoa this is. Started off as 1 polyp and is growing 2 polyps a month since i have got them. I bought them as UFO zoas or something but a google search shows nothing like it.
My 120 mixed reef runs at 78-79 and gets up to 82-83 in the heat of summer. LED lighting (2x Radion) and no chiller. I will use the AC to cool the tank on real hot days.
I had a Red Fromia starfish in my tank for just over a year before it melted away on my sand bed. Starfish can be very difficult to feed. I do believe that mine starved to death as whatever it was eating in my tank was depleted. Here is a photo of the one i had...
Interesting. I made a few stops at river and reef over the past year. Seems that every time i went there the fish and coral selection got worse and worse. Josh (owner) seems to have to much on his plate. Trying to do the shark stuff and run the store. He just was not able to dedicate enough time...
Interesting topic. I feed PE Mysis and have been defrosting it with warm tap water through a fine mesh net and place the defrosted food into a cup with RO water. I then use a small baster to feed.
Now the question i have is. Is defrosting the food necessary? Is it ok to just put a small piece...
I learned from when my dad had his RODI filling in the kitchen and him constantly flooding it. I have mine under the bathroom sink and the jugs fill in the bathtub. It it overfills it just goes down the drain.
My vote is for the SRO 2000 Int.
I just got this for my 120 with 40 sump and its pulling some good skimmate. Price on these skimmers just jumped from $359 to $410. I was also considering a SWC180.
