  1. Angelfish

Just bought two 40 gallon column tanks to move these guys into. (Chaetodontoplus personifer) BTW, they both had yellow caudal fins when I got them.

  4. Is our hobby killing the wild reefs?

I'm of the opinion that the hobby has had/is having a constructive influence on almost every corner of the wild and aquaculture process. It's the hobbyist over the past three or four decades that have inspired the public aquaeium sector to do a better job with it's husbandry. The requirements of...
  5. 48" PFO I4 solaris $500

Is this light still running the original PFO ballasts? Do you know the software version?
  6. Dust in fish tank

Devastating? Probably not, but a screen covering would go a long way in catching some of the dust and it's an easy task to just rinse now and then. All the spores floating around our houses probably don't have any effect in salt water but might with fresh water tanks. I guess it just comes down...
  7. Sea urchins bred to eat invasive seaweed in Hawaii

" David Cohen, Anuenue's urchin hatchery manager, told the Star?Advertiser it took a year to develop the techniques to breed the sea urchins in captivity." That's not very long at all.
  8. reactor

Depends on how much water your trying to process but if your talking at least a 120gal setup then I would check out the MTC reactor. I've been using one here for a while now and so far it does it all. GFO (I ran two pounds in it and it didn't leave the reactor.), NP pellets, GAC. High quality...

24 volt ac valves? How many amps?
  10. Dust in fish tank

Actually, I think the bags of floss I get for the air cleaners are "Dacron" not cotton.
  11. Dust in fish tank

Welp, I've never learned how to not spill water so I have all my fish tanks in the basement where it doesn't matter when I spill water. I'm sure you can run a filter sock or something when you start circulating water in the new tank but I have no proof that dust does or doesn't do anything...
  12. Dust in fish tank

You are pointing to something I think is often overlooked about aquarium husbandry in this day and age of high cfm skimming and uncovered aquariums. Think about the amount of dust and volatiles we are pulling into our aquariums through our skimmers in a year. I've taken to running carbon air...
  13. Made the switch to BIO-PELLETS

I just started a little over a week ago. My system is 220 gallons total but much dirtier (Higher PO4 and Nitrate.) than yours when I started. Check out my saga here, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1962139 My tank was heavily populated and only had a few corals but I've...
  14. Update pic of tank on NP pellets

I'll say one thing about this method, I've never seen anything grow bacteria this fast at our temperatures.
  15. Which pellets to us??

I'm using NPXBioplastics. My saga can be found here, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=18225236#post18225236
