  1. Black tang availability?

They used to be $75 - $100 from Hawaii; $175-275 retail. This was 8 years ago when I first starting paying attention to such things. Not sure what happened. The majority of specimens nowadays seem to be rostratum/scopas hybrids and are not really entirely "black" when they get past 3 inches.

I too do not think that a paperwork error will have a meaningful impact on the downfall of livestock importation. If I was a tree hugger (which I am), I would be more concerned about animal husbandry in our food supply, regarding issues such as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFJ5FQ41Md0
  3. Purple Monster (original Tyree)

A few of my buddies up here have it - let me know if you can't find it in Socal.

Beats me, but it sure as sunshine wasn't the importer, as he apparently was not allowed to keep them!
  5. 40-clipperton-angelfish-seized-usf&ws

Wrong! There is a John Clipperton, and English privateer, whom the atoll was named after. However, he did pass in 1722. Surely he has modern day descendants.
  6. My new ORA Platinum Clownfish

Perhaps, yes. But I don't see anywhere in the initial post where he asked "how do you feel about my clownfish?" And when people throw out the "I don't like selective genetics" line when discussing unique CB clownfish...that is just silly.
  7. My new ORA Platinum Clownfish

Whats up with the expensive fish bashing? If you have ever eaten a vegetable, or meat derived from a domesticated animal, or owned a dog then you are supporting selective genetics!
  8. Interesting Tang location

And it goes the other way too...Forcipiger longirostris is not said to inhabit the Eastern Pacific, but sure enough people see them in Mexico yearly. If there was more collection in the Eastern Pacific, I'm sure more "Indo" species would show up. Remember: when you read an account of a fish...
  9. Whats up at PFO?

In context, it sounds like he is happy that he did not put out a product (that could be similar to something PFO put out), before some patent infringement mumbo jumbo came to light.
  10. Aussie Scoly

Yea I don't know what the deal with my camera (or me) is. Not sure if we are allowed to post vendor names her, but I got mine from atlantisaquarium.net - I would love to pick up a red but I have more than exceeded my coral budget this year with the Scoly and a bunch of micromusa frags. I'm...

  12. Aussie Scoly

Well here is a pic of my "Aussie Scoly." The green actually looks much cooler than in these pics. I just couldn't get the camera to capture it that way (is there a setting to adjust besides white balance?) I saw one of these in a Julian Sprung book back when I first got into reefing...imagine...
  13. Official Statement regarding Clarion Angelfish

I've always liked the color better on the Brazilian Clarions vs. the Mexican ones
  14. carmabi and jumping...

John, How is your Pseudanthias fasciatus doing? I have been looking for one for the LONGEST time with no luck. Got any recent pics of him?
  15. The Clarions are coming.....

Steve, You appear to be correct: http://216.239.57.104/search?q=cache:Er ... rmit&hl=en Its like Prohibition!
