I have a sailfin tang that has developed several tiny white dots on both sides. They are very very small, and almost appear to be bubbles, if that makes any sense? You guys think this is ich? He seems to be fine so far, although he is hiding a bit more than usual.

And if one chooses to drill the back of the tank where should it be drilled? Near the bottom, and near the edges? Or just a few inches below the water level? Where would the professionals drill it?

Hi Guys, I have a 185g that I'm just starting up. I put in many many lbs. of live rock and after about a week or two all the sudden I'm getting a big bloom of a red colored algae everywhere. I seem to recall reading somewhere that this was normal and in fact one of the stages of the cycle...

OK guys...final post on this one. It's running very well now....full speed by lowering the outside overflow about 4 inches. That final round of ideas solved the problem. I'm now cycling the tank. Thanks again guys...we did it!!!

Well...I'm sure it'll have some, probably small, impact on flow. I'm just trying to see if there's any reason to go that low? Or just a few inches down?

Is there anything else one should look for when doing this mod? For instance, should the drilled hole be near the bottom or just a few inches below the top? Should the standpipe go into a box, or just be free standing?
