Well, that female sure is a fast little bugger! I took about 30 shots of her and ended up with only one decent one :

The male, on the other hand, like to pose for a couple more seconds than the female. I took about 10 shots of him, and most came out okay :

Still, they're not as focused as they could be, and I was using the flash! Back to the practice tee, I guess... :)

They sure seem happy...and they eat like hogs.

No mating behavior from the male yet, and I've been watching them. maybe when they have a bit more room after the move...

Hey man, you can come visit them anytime...but beware, the weather sucks here. :)

Peace,

Chip

Hey Chio,
How are you enjoying these two? I'm thinking about a pair or maybe a pair of watanabei...

Chio??? CHIO?????

Why, you...

:)

Anyway, I'm loving these fish. I think they're just awesome, and I'm very thankful to Nico for setting me up with them.

I'm thinking of actually getting a pair of watanabei, as well.

I'll have three tanks when I move into the new house...

The reef is moving from the 75 to the 110, and the titan trigger is moving from the 50 into the 75. So, that leaves the 50 empty...

I could get two 175-watt halides for the 50, make it a clam/sps tank, and have the watanabei angel pair and a mystery wrasse in there.

Hrm...too many decisions to make...

:D

Anyway, back to your point...I love these angels, and would recommend them to anyone who wants a different fish for the reef. They are perfectly well-behaved, even after some initial harassment by my purple tang. Now they're everywhere in the tank, they eat like pigs, and bother no one...

I'd get a pair if I were you, over the watanabei.

Peace,

Chip

I would think they'd get bullied from a full-sze angel, as they're just pygmies. How big is the tank?

Hi Chip,

Tank is 150G, pile of live rocks and corals and abit of water in between them

The good thing is that I moved to a new flat and now everything is in my LFS, last week, I started to put some corals in and it seems to be good, so next week it's fish time.

It means , it'll be easier to introduce new fish.

The Asfur is 3 yrs old .

These Bellus looks just amazing.

Chio? I have to proof before posting!

Why would you choose bellus over watanabei?

Simply because there's a more striking dimorphic difference between the male & female. Son't get me wrong, I love the watanabeis, and plan on getting a pair for my 2nd reef tank, but if given the choice I'd go for the bellus...

I was in Country Critters on Long Island over the weekend, and they had some Genicanthus. They had a nice female bellus, and a large male bellus. The male was in a fairly aggressive very crowded tank and he was kicking butt. He was pretty big, scared me off. His colors weren't that good, probably his environment.

The also had a sweet sweet little watanabei female that I couldn't resist, so for now that's what I have. Nice fish.

If I get another female will one change to a male?
