what happens to the contest threads when the contest is over?

i'm trying to find some pics from the softie contest, and can't locate the thread :? :?:

I think some contests also go into the archives.

Yep, the contest threads just move done. The votes and winners get archived. I can archive the actual contest threads too, but a lot of people are using outside links that I'm afraid will not be upkept over time (leading to the dreaded red X images )
