I have both the Nikon 995 and a Canon S50, but after about a year of owning the S50 I still can't get it to take good macro pics. The pics I took on my Nikon 995 were awesome. But with the S50 its been a different story. I know about the button to get into the flower mode (macro). I tried so many times and still I can't get the damn thing to focus in macro mode no matter what distance away from the subject. I tried anywhere from less than 1" to over 1' feet but the pics come out of focus. I know it can't be my lights in my tank, new Aquaspace lights with 2-150watt hqi over a 60 gallon tank.

Anyone have any pointers?

there's a setting AAiF in your menu. Shut it off, so the camera will only focus on the center of the frame. Also, make sure the assist beam is on, and the camera is in manual mode, not point and shoot.

Hope this helps
