Flat worms

I spotted a bunch on back wall of my tank we'd night. I bought fwe and follow instructions, 6 hours later half dose more because they were still hanging around. I still have some on glass tonight.
The tank itself will be 2weeks old Sunday and has no live stock approximate. 170 to 190 pounds of lr and 80 pounds ls. Temp is 78/salinity. 1.24'. I tested ammonia last night to see if few turned me toxic, but read zero trite was .03'. I recently added lr (60lbs) and noticed worms shortly after

I didnt test ph or trates. Since i have no livestock shold I treat again, i was going to do a water change, but I'm not sure if i should old off a bit more. I also placed carbon in my sump as instructed by lfs where bought few. Tia for help

You have no livestock!! Leave the FWE in there with no carbon. The carbon neutralizes the FWE as well as the toxins released by the dead FW's.

I would absolutely quadruple the dose and BANG'EM hard. With no possibility for livestock loss I would leave the carbon off the system until you see no more FW's. You might want to take a small powerhead, hand held, and direct the flow into all nooks and crannies to make sure the FWE gets everywhere.

I would also siphon out all the dead FW's and only add carbon after you don't see any more FW's.

My pleasure.....and yes, you are very fortunate. It makes treatment a breeze. FW's are a total pita in a fully stocked tank.

Yep. It's funny 3 I've met three or 4 people picking equip up, and everyone one of them says to dip corals, didn't think I should have rinsed the lr. Lesson learned I guess

How will this kill the ones on the rockwork? Using FWE is actually the only surefire way that I know of. Unless of course he boils the rock in boiling water....effectively killing all the beneficial bacteria as well.

I've done 2 wat changes approximate 30 gallon each trying to syphon out visible flatties. I noticed a good sized die off immediately after dose of fwe. I dosed again as per instructions and took carbon out. Few day later I noticed few more but sporadic. Soi dosed all over again..... Figured no livestock it couldn't hurt: I thought for sure my level would have spiked. Ill test again his weekend ad hopefully see no fw. My concern is more the worms in rock i cant see, f w e wiping them out too?

Some from me :X told him to treat with FWE, I had flatworms and all this time thought it was leftover food :fight2:because they were brown and small like pellets.

I even yelled at my mom for overfeeding the tank while I was away. DOH!

FWE recommended dosage never worked for me ! I always had to treat at least 3 times with way more then the recommended dose

Yes my tank showed littel stress only thing was some snails looked crappy for a day from the toxins the flatt worms release just run a bunch of fresh carbon
If u have no livestock right now there's not too much too worry about !! Treat 3 times heavily over a week ! Then do lg waterchange run carbon wait a week make sure no sighns of the lil bastardos

There's no way to dry out the rock completely. All the nooks and crannies are perfect places for the FW's to hide. We've all received hitchhikers on LR. I've seen FISH survive on LR right out of a box with no water. Certainly FW's can survive that type of 'treatment'.

Thanks for input here, hitchhikers are going to happen...I understand dipping and qtfor livestock.... I'll dose again and prepare a big wc again this weekend or early next week.
