Serpent Starfish

About a month ago I purchased a cleaner crew. I came with 2 serpent stars. Recently I noticed a ton of serpent stars in my sump and refugium, all extremely small. Are there any special needs for these?? How long can they stay in there, as space is rather limited. Additionally, how many should I keep in my 54 gallon corner once grown, if they make it??? Thank you

The little stars you see are micro brittle stars and they will not grow in size. They max out at maybe an inch or so and are good for your system, they will eat little bits of food/detritus they find and are quite interesting to watch when they breed. They probably came in as hitchhikers on your rock or corals.
