It would be a good idea to jump start your poss population with some reef pods in both the tank and the refuge. You also should feed them in the refuge. You can teach a mandarin to eat. My mandarin eats frozen mysis. Check out Mark Levinsons site. He has some tips on how to train a mandarin.

My tank was established with copepods and such but I have had absolutely no luck with mandarins.

I would even take a syringe, pick up the little critters, and shoot them into the mandarin's face and they still won't eat them.

I put rubble rock in a mesh filterbag and set it in my sump to breed pods. They seem to breed in them, and keep the pod population up.

2 months is early though, and even with the filtersock trick I would still wait until the tank reaches at least 9 month-1 year. GL!

if you want to go through the hassle of owning a mandarin than you should consider buying pods and loading your sump or fuge with them and have a few pieces of very porous rock to put in the sump and rotate them weekly to feed your mandarin those populating pods and believe me you need more rock in your tank, the more holes and crevises in the rock, the better.
