best way to get rid of phosphate in my 65g saltwater tank running with 20g long sump with skimmer . tank been up and running for 3 yrs ......

Are you running any media reactors? A reactor with GFO would be the best addition to bring down the phosphate levels.

Are you using ro or rodi water in the tank?
Are you doing frequent water changes, if so, how often and what % of water?

Can you tell us more about the tank? Bioload? What foods are you feeding?
Best to figure out where the phosphates are coming from slow down or eliminate the source.

Quickest way is water changes do 50% then a few 25% changes every 3-5 days till its low. And if it's high you need to find the source start with testing the water you use for the make up. After it is under control there are lots of options to keep it in chek from macro algae to chemicals.

Hi kathy ' im using poland spring dis-stilled water , doing 20% water changes every 2weeks , im also feeding frozen brine shrimps, mysis, spectrem pellets.

You're not changing your water enough. 25% every week would be better for your tank. The best way to remove phosphate really is to run gfo. A reactor has the potential to remove more PO4 than most skimmers.

How many/What type of fish are in the tank? How much are you feeding?
You can also try rinsing out the frozen food in RO water before feeding, but a more nutritious frozen food would be frozen mysis, but thats another story. Frozen foods usually are loaded with phosphates, I believe as a preservative.
