any tips on sumps

Im goin to make 2 diy 20gallon long sumps 1 my Refugium the other my carbon and gfo reactors any tips that can help it will be my 1st time.

Make sure the heigh of the 20 l is sufficient for the skimmer

If using a glass tank use glass for baffles-if using an acrylic tank use acrylic baffles.

Allow a little room (about 1/8" on each side of baffles) between baffles and tank walls for expansion- Yes baffles can expand slightly.

Don't rush, take your time and let the silicon dry COMPLETELY before performing leak tests.

Remember once something is siliconed , if you need to redo it, you need to strip the first silicone out, new silicone and old silicone won't stick to each other well.

there has been a change im goin 2 use a a 20 long and a 30 gallon glass. its for my 125 gallon

He has a great design. Also look at Mrc's sumps; very well thought out as well. Go as big as you possibly can....you will not regret it.
