How often do you change filter sock?

yes, a good skimmer

100 or 200 is up to u. 100 will clog sooner, but water will be cleaner.
Either way they should get changed every couple days at the most to keep nitrates from building

Micron is a measurement of size. ie. 200 micron will trap particles larger than 200 micron. 100 micron will trap particles larger than 100 micron.

Mesh, Felt... your decision. Mesh is easier to maintain and rinse. Felt will need to be washed.

I know it's probably not good but to keep my water change time down to less than 10 minutes I just rub my filter sock under hot tap water and wring it out, then just stick it back in. Haven't washed it yet.

Isn't that washing? You'd be better off with a second sock so your not under pressure. Plus I'd worry about chlorine from tapwater.

Its been said. 100=clearer water but will need to be changed (washed) more frequently. Clean them when water level increases, indicating that its getting clogged.

when i think about washing i think of putting it in the washing machine or as some people do, dishwasher. i rinse them out.

I've got it all running on the priciples combining the Berlin (skimming) and Monaco (DSB and refugium) type setup, feeding phyto and homemade marine snow. Can't use a filter.
