Yellow Algae on Live Rock

Have had yellow Algae on some of rocks for quite some while. Does not seem to spread. Does anyone know if this is beneficial algae?

yea it's a sponge and good to have because they are filter feeders, but a good indication of high nutriants in your tank is an abundance of sponges...
