Dry Rock all the way. Ocean rock is beautiful, but you definitely get critters you didnt expect. In my tank I just discovered a mean looking crab, the size of a ping pong ball with scary little claws. Im going to have to try to get it out. There is also something in the tank that is strong enough to move the 2 veggie clips on the bottom of the tank from one side to the other. Im guessing a pretty large crab, which of course I never intentionally addeded to the tank.

DIY- to much work and too long a waiting time to cure.

Live Rock - risk of die off in tank if not cured.

Fake rock - ??

Best bet is a dry rock like BRS Pukani. Stuff is amazing. Seed the tank w a few small pieces of good rock from a members established tank and your good to go.
