H2o salt

I was wondering if any body else had this problem as well.
When i mix my h2o d+d salt it leaves a brown residue on the pump and in the bin which i use for mixing.
I do use ro water and water is fine.

I have the same with crystal reef salt & I do use RO water as well, I dont know why its happaning

I use h20 and don't have this issue,Maybe it's that batch! Did it just start happening to you? Are you using the same container you use to make chocolate milk in?

Some salts use clay as a binding agent. That could be what you are seeing. It happens to me sometimes w Red Sea Pro only it's a whitish/grey clay residue.

SO I SENT A EMAIL LAST NIGHT TO D-D AND THIS IS THE ANSWER THEY GAVE ME.
REALLY FAST REPLY. GREAT CUSTOM SERVICE.
Dear Mr. XXXXXX

The brown residue will be calcium carbonate precipitate. As our salt contains
correct levels of Calcium and Alkalinity extra care when mixing can correct
any problems associated with Calcium carbonate precipitation caused by
mixing methods.

The calcium carbonate is totally harmless but can look unsightly in the mixing
vessel and will require extra cleaning between mixes.

I had this on the two buckets of it I used, as well as the red sea coral pro salt. Oceanic did the same for me way back when I was using it 9-10 years ago. I now use ESV B-Ionic and I have not had ANY residue of any color in my mixing vats after having used 5 boxes of it so far.
