suggestion on first coral?

does anyone have any suggestions on a good first coral to start with on my 72 bowfront? the tank has been set up for about 8 weeks now and i have a decent stock of reef safe fish. i am new to reefkeeping so i want to start off with some low maintence corals. my lighting is a 48" current nova extreme pro t5ho.

Zoas and Mushrooms are always great starter corals

What exactly do you mean by that? Did you know that you may still be going through a cycle.... especially with a "decent stocking of fish"?
You need to slow down or you may find yourself at an unpleasant quick ending.

I purchased the tank used with the live rock is aged about a year and was stored in a Rubbermaid tub with a heater and powerhead. When I said 8 week old I meant I've owned it for 8 weeks I currently have 2 clowns a powder blue and 4 blue green chromis along with about 10 turbo snails. I waited 3 weeks and checked all the levels daily and did see small cycle before adding fish. Ammonia nitrate and nitrate have a been steady at 0 since

pulsating Zenia are nice and they grow very fast

Green star polyps are good I have your same lighting and they grow fast

Zenia and star polyps can get out of control in a new tank. If you get them make sure you keep it on the side surrounded by sand. If it gets on your main rock structure it will take over your tank and it is tough to remove.
Mushrooms, zoas, palys, ricordias.
Dont be afraid of easy to keep SPS like montipora. The orange plating kind looks really cool.

I like LPS. They are easy to care for and you don't have to worry about them taking over your tank. Candy canes, Acans and open brains are all easy.

Xenia, zoo's n zoa's if u can get to me 10040 I'll give u sumtin' cool that will grow in ur tank till ur sik n tired n start research on what u really want, lol!! Anthelia

Thanks for all the feedback guys.. I'm going to continue researching on my own and visit a couple lfs to see what i like..Will probably be adding my first coral over the weekend stay tuned for pictures lol

zoas, leathers, kenya tree, frogspawns, hammers.. all easy.

Do your research first. You will want to get easy corals first then you work your way up. Because corals get very expensive if you don't know what you are doing. Softies and LPS are the way to go.
